I’ve owned both – the Seagull is very good, but the Tak New Yorker I had was better in several ways – finish, tuners, wood quality, richer, deeper sound, etc. I ordered a omv, and I dont know how I am gonna wait the 4months it takes for Martin to get it to me. I got over bling a long time ago, but there’s something about a small body guitar with abalone purfling that still gets me. I’m very happy with my Takamine. One little hopeful bump and I will give up! It sounded great plugged in, but too boxy unplugged. They are special order at GC and Elderly does not have them in stock per their website. The fact I hear it’s also a decent player really pulls me in.

There are several “New Yorker” models: Has a great onboard preamp for amplifing with a tuner toonice binding and a low action. No matter how you play it, the hollow body will give you a solid, rich sound.
